Drexel Libraries Receives 2024 LEAD Award for Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion
January 11, 2024
The Drexel University Libraries was recently named a recipient of the inaugural Library Excellence in Access and Diversity (LEAD) Award from Insight Into Diversity magazine.
The LEAD Award honors academic libraries for programs and initiatives that encourage and support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). This award recognizes the Drexel Libraries’ ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive environment through its resources, services, events and programming, and community outreach.
“The Drexel University Libraries is delighted to receive this recognition of the diversity, equity, and inclusivity efforts we have undertaken over the last year,” said Ann Yurcaba, Interim University Librarian. “Libraries staff are passionate in their support of DEI and that commitment is core to our mission and values of inclusivity. This award is evidence of all our hard work to promote, support, and sustain an environment of diversity, equality, fairness, inclusion, and respect at Drexel.”
As one of the winners, the Drexel Libraries will be featured, along with 55 other recipients, in the March 2024 issue of Insight Into Diversity.
“We know that many academic libraries are not always recognized for their dedication to diversity, inclusion, and access” says Lenore Pearlstein, owner and publisher of Insight Into Diversity magazine. “We are proud to honor these college and university libraries as role models for other institutions of higher education.”
