Drexel Libraries and Westphal College of Media Arts & Design to Co-Host Art Exhibition on Migration
October 2, 2017
This fall, the Drexel University Libraries and Westphal College of Media Arts & Design welcome a new art exhibit titled Migration to the W. W. Hagerty Library.
The exhibit features a collection of works from three artists and explores the topic of migration. Artists include Jen Blazina, Associate Professor of Art and Art History at Drexel University, and two visiting artists, Jacaranda Kori and Eran Ehlrich from Bezalel Academy of Arts & Design’s Department of Ceramics and Glass Design in Jerusalem, Israel. Each artist uses various media to approach the concept of migration in a personal way, drawing on their own experiences for inspiration.
This exhibit is made possible by the Louis and Bessie Stein Family Fellowship, which Professor Blazina was awarded for 2018. The fellowship will allow her to travel to the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Israel to study and do research for two months in 2018. As part of the Fellowship, Jacaranda Kori and Eran Ehlrich will visit Philadelphia, PA for several weeks in October 2017.
The exhibition opens Tuesday, October 10, 2017 and will be on display in the W. W. Hagerty Library through December 15, 2017. Visiting artists Jacaranda Kori and Eran Ehlrich will give a lecture on their personal artwork and insights into the pieces from the exhibition on Thursday, October 5 from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the URBN Center, Room 348.
