Multi-Faith Prayer and Meditation Space Now Open in W. W. Hagerty Library

Earlier this spring, the Drexel University Libraries opened a new multi-faith prayer and meditation space in the W. W. Hagerty Library. The dedicated space is located on the second floor of the Library against the back wall by aisle 152 in the stacks.

The Libraries created the space in close collaboration with students from the Drexel Muslim Students Association (DMSA). This idea for the space emerged based on student feedback and requests for dedicated prayer space in the Library due to its central location on the University City campus.

The space features prayer rugs, a low stool, low lighting, and texts and resources for different religions. Students of all faiths are welcome to use the space for prayer, reflection, meditation, or simply quiet contemplation. To suggest different materials for the space, contact libraries@drexel.edu.

We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with Drexel students to create and launch this new space, all based on student requests and feedback, and to further our mission to provide resources, services and support for our students, as well as faculty and staff.

The prayer space is open every day during regular staffed library hours. The Serenity Suite, located in the Dragons’ Learning Den, can be used for prayer and meditation after the main Library closes each day.
