Message from the New University Librarian

Dear Drexel University Community,

I am pleased to begin this new quarter with news that I have been appointed University Librarian and Associate Vice Provost for Libraries, Archives & Collections at Drexel University.

It is truly an honor to step into this permanent role after serving as interim head of libraries since January of last year, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue working with the Drexel Libraries team. They continue to impress and inspire me every day with their dedication to supporting our academic community.

Over the coming months, I look forward to continuing our work to improve and elevate the Libraries by making wise and efficient use of our resources and by further aligning our services and programming with Drexel’s Academic Transformation and experiential learning model. We have accomplished a lot over the last year and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish next.

I also want to take a moment to welcome several new staff members to the Libraries team, including two full-time librarians and three co-op students from the spring/summer co-op cycle:

  • Erin Halovanic, Acquisitions Librarian
  • Justine Osterman, Health Sciences Librarian
  • Elizabeth Anastasio, Archives Assistant co-op
  • Max Haney, Marketing & Communications Assistant co-op
  • Joseph Schindler, Library Integrated Technology Assistant co-op

Read more about each of them on our website and please join me in welcoming each of them to Drexel!

Finally, I want to extend my thanks to you as colleagues, friends and supporters of the Libraries. Over the last year, it has been inspiring to meet Drexel students, peers, and academic leaders and to hear how critical the Libraries is to their success. The months ahead will surely bring new and meaningful opportunities for connection and collaboration, and I look forward to doing even more to drive innovation and student success as your new University Librarian.

Sincerely,

Pedro Raposo, DPhil
