Drexel Recognizes Over 75 Faculty, Staff & Students During the 2025 Authors Event

Each year, the University Libraries and the Office of the Provost proudly host the Celebrating Drexel Authors event—a celebration that honors faculty, staff and students who have published creative or scholarly works.

During the 2025 event, held November 6 in the AJ Drexel Picture Gallery, the University honored a total of 79 faculty, staff and students who published books in calendar year 2024. This year’s list of honorees included 33 book authors, 21 editors, and 25 authors who contributed to 23 different highly cited journal articles. Publications recognized during the event cover an impressive and wide range of topics, including textbooks on artificial intelligence, wellness workbooks, books of poetry and even a murder mystery.

The event opened with remarks from Ros Remer, PhD, Senior Vice Provost for Libraries, Collections and Archives, followed by a special appearance from University President Antonio Merlo, PhD. Paul Jensen, PhD, Nina Henderson Provost and Executive Vice President of Drexel, ended the program with a brief tribute to the 2024 authors.

“Each of [the works recognized this year] represents a spark of curiosity, of insight, of courage to share your ideas publicly and contribute to the world’s body of knowledge,” Provost Jensen said during the event. “That’s what makes universities like ours vital: our people write, edit, illustrate, analyze, and in doing so, invite others to think differently…. Collectively, your publications advance Drexel’s mission to tackle society’s most pressing challenges through inclusive learning, immersive experience, partnership, and creativity. You make Drexel known not just for what happens in our classrooms and labs, but for the ideas that travel far beyond them.”

Following the program, over 50 attendees enjoyed refreshments and had the opportunity to connect and converse with fellow authors, editors and colleagues.

Congratulations again to all authors and editors who published their works in 2024! We look forward to recognizing 2025 authors and editors at the 14th annual authors event in 2026.  The comprehensive list of authors recognized during this year’s event is accessible online.

Many of the books recognized are also available in print as part of the Drexel University Archives’ Drexel Authors Collection.
