Scheduled Maintenance: ILLiad Unavailable Dec. 15 - Dec. 17, 2025
On December 15, 2025, the Drexel Libraries will migrate ILLiad, one of its resource sharing management systems, to a new server hosted by the vendor OCLC. Moving to a hosted server means that ILLiad will no longer be housed and supported locally by the Libraries.
ILLiad will be unavailable for three days starting December 15 through December 17, while Libraries staff back up the ILLiad database in preparation for the migration. To reduce the size of the database after the migration, all ILLiad transactions and your history of interlibrary loan requests made before July 2022 will be deleted from the system.
If you wish to keep your list of previous interlibrary loan requests, please contact Resource Sharing Staff at hlill@drexel.edu before January 12.
Members of the Drexel community should not notice any other changes to ILLiad after the migration of services to OCLC. Starting in 2026, Libraries staff will delete all transaction histories on an annual basis each December.
Benefits of Moving to a Hosted Server
OCLC offers a secure facility with 24-hour monitoring of the ILLiad system. Going forward, OCLC will maintain the ILLiad systems, including backups and software upgrades. This frees Drexel Libraries staff from being responsible for supporting ILLiad software components and upgrades, allowing them to focus on other projects.
