Instructions for Faculty
Countdown to Canvas
Drexel is currently in the process of transitioning to Canvas as its new learning management system (LMS). As part of that process, instructors will need to rebuild their course reserve lists in their new Canvas course shells.
Guidelines for building course reserve lists in Canvas are available in our Course Reserves Guide. We encourage you to rebuild your lists in Canvas as soon as possible. Per the University’s transition timeline, all courses should use Canvas for Fall 2026-27.

Follow the instructions below to link your Canvas course to the Drexel Libraries' Course Reserves system. You must link your course to this system before you can create a reading list or submit a physical reserves request.
Linking a Course in Canvas to the Drexel Course Reserves System
- Log in to Canvas using your Drexel user ID and password (without @drexel.edu)
- Navigate to the Courses page and select the course to which you would like to add a course reserves link.
-
From the course homepage, click on the ‘+ Module” in the upper right-hand corner.
-
Next, you will be prompted to enter a name for the module. We recommend the name “Course Reserves.”
-
Once you have named your course reserves module, click “Add module” at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Click the gray plus sign (+) to the right of your Course Reserves module.
-
From the drop-down menu, select “External Tool.” Then select “Drexel Libraries Course Reserves” from the options that appear on screen.
-
Then click “Add item” at the bottom of the prompt window.
Once you have created a link to Drexel Libraries Course Reserves in your course shell in Canvas, you will be able to create a reading list.
