2016 RECIPIENTS:

Chris Badurek, Libraries Champion Award
The Libraries Champion award is given to an individual demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit through initiating a new program that extends the reach of the library to its stakeholders. 
This year, Chris took on an expand-your-skills opportunity as the Research Data Services Support Manager. In this role, Chris championed the Libraries data management efforts - he designed and implemented workshops, built the first GIS User Group, helped develop the Data Visualization Zone and more. Chris is thoughtful in his work listening to feedback from within the Libraries, from faculty and beyond. He is effective in using this feedback to balance a wide variety of interests. Chris' work is interdisciplinary in nature and strongly supports the Drexel community's research related efforts. He has championed the Libraries data management efforts and we are excited to see where the program will go, now that we have a dedicated full time staff.

Eddie Rubeiz, Change Champion Award
The Change Champion award recognizes an individual who uses evidence of client expectations and the framework of the Libraries strategic directions to transform, improve or innovate the Libraries.
The Libraries web developer, Eddie, was the prime mover in the Libraries Knowledge Management project to customize a Wiki installation to retain and share a large amount of vital library documentation across all departments within the organization. 
Eddie identified major departmental needs via face-to-face meetings similar to focus groups and empowered departmental representatives to enter crucial information by leading instructional skill-based sessions. Beyond the initial development and implementation of this tool, Eddie's leadership skills and expertise allowed library staff to contribute and collaborate as stakeholders.
This led to the initial success of LibWiki and a change in practice regarding the storage and use of valuable operational documentation. Eddie continues to champion this project ensuring that new library staff are trained on LibWiki, that links and content remain active and fresh and that new programs are appropriately documented.

Donna Sutherland, Exceptional Service Award
The Exceptional Service Award celebrates an individual who showcases dedication and service, going above and beyond their job to provide exceptional service.
Donna has a gift for making others feel at ease. Thesis and dissertation submissions can be very stressful for some graduate students - they sometimes have to make drastic formatting changes before their submission can be finalized. Donna's high level of emotional intelligence and dedication to her work ensures that students leave having had a positive experience. 
We receive a lot of positive feedback about Donna, and the submission process, from the graduate student community at Drexel.  Donna, regardless of how she's communicating with students, provides an exceptional level of service and goes above and beyond in making students feel at ease throughout their interactions with the Libraries.

Patrick Tishion, Student Worker Award
The Jane Bryan Student Award is presented to a student worker who demonstrates outstanding service to the Libraries. 
Patrick has worked at Hahnemann Library with the End User Tech Support Teach for two years. In that time he has taken on many projects, and with little instruction has accomplished the completion of tasks in record time and with excellent results. Patrick embodies service excellence in his interactions with patrons who have questions about printing, scanning, accessing blackboard or software related issues while creating reports and presentations. He has taken on the final imaging process, the gathering and record keeping of equipment for RecycleMania, the collecting of weekly statistics for printers, the accumulating of computer identification information for reports and many more projects. He is a self-starter who takes initiative, knows what needs to be done and does it without prompting.
