Developments in scholarly communications - ranging from greater openness of journal publications to the introduction of new forms of research outputs - provide new opportunities for Drexel researchers to disseminate their work to global audiences. Repositories are offering venues to meet the new requirements for recipients of federal funding to make their published findings openly available to other researchers and the public. As experts in the scholarly communications practices of their subject areas, the Libraries' liaison librarians keep Drexel researchers apprised of these ever-changing opportunities for them to strengthen their connection to scholarship.

For this year's Open Access Week (Oct. 23rd through Oct. 30th), the Libraries released a group of new Library Guides that provide an introduction to and guidance for some of these most talked-about developments in scholarly communications. The four new Scholarly Communications Library Guides are part of our collection of Library Guides related to Writing & Publishing.

The guides introduce these topics:

• Author rights for scholars seeking to publish their research 
• A copyright FAQ for both authors and instructors using copyrighted content in their courses
• Open Access options for scholarly publishing
• Public Access requirements for federally-funded research.

The guides offer an overview of the topic, an explanation of the options available to Drexel researchers, links to further information; and they identify the liaison librarian experts who can provide further information. The Libraries offers access to its Library Guides for anyone interested in learning more about the topics they cover, though some links to subscription resources are restricted to Drexel students and employees.
