As the liaison to the Westphal College of Media Arts and Design, Tom Ipri develops and manages the libraries' collaborative relationships with the departments and programs of the college, including development of library collections, provision of specialized reference, instruction, and consultative services. He is available for individual and group student consultations, in-class instruction, assignment design assistance and online research support.
Prior to coming to Drexel, Tom worked as the Head of Media and Computer Services at Lied Library at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Before moving to Las Vegas, he served as the Media Librarian at La Salle University’s Connelly Library. While at La Salle, he also taught freshman writing, humanities, and first year experience courses.
Tom is active in the library profession. As a member of the American Library Association (ALA), he serves on the Executive Board of the Video Round Table. He has presented at ALA, Internet Librarian and Computers in Libraries conferences. Tom has published about various library topics in Journal of Web Librarianship, New Library World, Information Technology and Libraries and Computers in Libraries. Also, he is the co-editor of the Drexel University hosted Journal of Culture & Retail Image. Tom has a strong interest in film and writes film reviews for Educational Media Reviews Online. He has served as a judge for the Las Vegas International Film Festival and has served on ALA’s Notable Videos for Adults Committee, which reviews films and compiles a yearly “best of” list. In addition, he helped establish “Movies That Matter,” a series of film screenings on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
